I adore this sign! Pass by it all the time. Not every Safeway has a cool, vintage sign... but this one does, and it really stands out. It is not only towering, but the shapes and the starbursts, too? Wow!

Very cool sign at this motel, which sits along a busy thoroughfare in the South Bay. The "E" light is burnt out, and why does that make it even more aesthetically pleasing? I can't stop being intrigued by it. You? What do you think of this sign? Does it make it feel even more quaint and cozy?

Western Motel. Historical Landmark

The Western Motel is no longer in use. It has been converted to a covenant house, but the sign has been  kept as an historical landmark by the city of Santa Clara. Keeping old signs up is so cool. Proof that folks love old signs and deserve to be preserved. Seriously. It dignifies the past and adds a special spark to places.

Can we take a moment to appreciate this lettering? The oversized looping "W," the hand-lettered script, and the little cap/brush make this sign unforgettable. Vintage sign design at its finest.

Love this carousel atop the sign. An incredible delight of wonder, whimsy and a little weird... just right there in the parking lot, being all cute and sweet and stuff. The unfortunate thing is the plaza is set to be renovated, and the question remains.. Will they keep this sign?
